Following an unsuccessful conversion to a bar & restaurant in the 1990s, and now having laid empty for a number of years and falling in to disrepair, the site is to be transformed to provide ground floor retail space, with 16 high-quality residential apartments above, while also providing for improvements to the public realm.
The existing art-deco front facade is to be retained, while the new elevations have been designed to provide a sympathetic and timeless accompaniment. The building is to be faced in glazed terracotta, and is to be fully-equipped to provide outstanding living accommodation, also offering generous external spaces for the occupants, and garage parking.
The build is designed to target the BRE Code for Sustainable Homes (level 4) and meet the Lifetime Homes standard.
