Sydney Contemporary 7 - 10th September 2023

Sydney Contemporary opens today, Australasia’s biggest art fair featuring ninety-four galleries and representing over 450 leading and emerging artists exhibiting the best in contemporary art. Defined by the vibrancy of its host city, Sydney Contemporary provides collectors, industry professionals and the art loving public access to cutting-edge art from some of the world’s most respected artists and galleries as well as the opportunity to discover new, emerging talent. The fair first started ten years ago and is now a firmly established event in the global art fairs calendar.

Stiff+Trevillion are show architects and this is the 7th edition of the fair designed by the Studio. We have become experts at creating sustainable and exciting pop-up schemes. Carriageworks, the venue for Sydney Contemporary, is an arts venue in heritage building so the designs needed to celebrate the building as well as the many artists and galleries exhibiting there.

Alongside the galleries, there are curated sections for installation and performance as well as an ambitious program of panel discussions, guided tours, educational workshops, and extensive VIP events. Additionally, the Fair is home to pop-up restaurants by some of Sydney’s much-loved dining institutions, making it an all-encompassing experience.

Billed as one of the most celebrated events on Australia’s cultural calendar, Sydney Contemporary is a must-attend art event and the perfect place to discover and collect modern and contemporary art.
