This family of restaurants for Chucs grew out of an original bar and grill on Dover Street, central London. With limited room to work with, we designed the timber joinery to feel like the interior of a sleek 1950s yacht – not only to reflect the retro feel of the original Chucs swimwear brand, but also to make the most out of the tiny space, which offers good, simple high-end Italian food. We have since developed the concept further, for a larger restaurant on Westbourne Grove and an intimate, lower ground-floor space at Harrods, the world-famous department store. In each, we collaborated with interior designer Peter Mikic to evoke the sunny, classical style of the Italian riviera.
