Behind Sloane Street, a secret landscaped courtyard leads to a mews of artisanal shops and restaurants, transforming a former traffic rat-run into a lively, local and intimate street.
Part of the Cadogan Estate’s George house scheme, Pavilion road sought to create a neighbourhood destination for the community. Extending the commercial frontage along Pavilion Road with smaller, artisan shops enhances Chelsea’s village feel, and reflects the desires of local residents. Consultation with residents showed the majority wanted to see more independent traders in the area, better known for its luxury global brands. The shops in Pavilion Road, which runs parallel to Sloane street, have created a new food and shopping destination for the community. Established fashion and beauty boutiques have now been joined by artisan food shops including a butcher, baker, wine merchant, cheesemonger and greengrocer. Alongside these are restaurants and cafes offering al fresco eating and drinking.
