The acre-square roof garden at Cannon Bridge House has spectacular views over central London, but little of this character was evident inside the structure, built above the station viaduct as trading floors for the LIFFE exchange. Our refurbishment of the highly compromised – and, since the 1990s, unmodernised – River Building has repositioned it for media and technology tenants. Light and volume has been restored to the deep-plan floors, there is a dedicated entrance through the viaduct arches, and a glass link to the Atrium Building brings fresh users into the gardens themselves.
